Helpers needed - Clifton Road Race Day, Sunday 10th July

The club road races are looming close now, and I need help, please!
To summarise arrangements again:- Two events on the same day - a veterans race in the morning (10am kick-off) and a BC 2nds/3rds/4ths race in the afternoon (1:30 start). A gap inbetween for lunch. Event is at North Newbald, just south of Market Weighton. This is a bit of a trek from York, but was necessitated by it being impossible to make suitable arrangements with North Yorkshire Highways - hence the move to the East Riding. We currently have sixty-odd riders in the vets races and a full field in the BC event.
If you've already volunteered to help then many thanks - I'll be in touch direct over the next few days.
Jobs which still need takers:-
-Help with signing-on and staffing the event HQ.
-Lead and following car drivers (exciting stuff this - you get a flashing light and I'll cover your petrol expenses).
-Marshals - we need ten for each race to cover the various junctions, as it's quite a big circuit.
-Finish-line judges to help with clocking people over the line and avoiding the "I was eighth not ninth" arguments. Anyone with a video camera (and competence in using it) particularly welcome.
-Catering crew. HQ is in the village hall and has a kitchen, and it would be good to be able to offer tea / coffee / refreshments. If there's a couple of you who would be prepared to take this on, I'll put pleas out / call in favours / spend some money to get cakes in. You can charge for it and put proceeds towards your chosen good cause.
If you can do any of the above jobs during the morning, great. If you can do any of them in the afternoon, great. If you can do both, that's absolutely excellent and I'll ensure you're fed for free at one of the village pubs. For club members who are riding one or other event, could you let me know whether you can help with the one you're not doing, please?
Once I know who's able to help I'll ensure that every car that's heading over there has as many people in it as possible and anyone who needs a lift gets one!
If you can help, please either post on this thread or email me or PM me.
Many thanks!

I'm bumping this up again as I'm still short of a few helpers. Many thanks to all who've been in touch (whether with offers of support or reasons why you can't). I just need another two or three to help marshal or assist with judging at the finish - and especially someone with a camera / video camera to log people over the line. Anyone who can help out at both the morning vets race and afternoon BC race gets a free lunch in the village pub. Please post on here / PM me / email roadrace at cliftoncc dot org. Ta!

Bumping this up again - still need additional helpers for both events but the morning vets race in particular needs people. If you can only do half a day then a morning would be really appreciated - you'd be free by half twelve.

I'm bumping this up again - many thanks to all who have been in touch about helping on Sunday or letting me know why they can't.
I still need a couple more helpers for the morning vets race, please!
If you fancy combining helping out with some miles under your wheels, North Newbald's a nice (albeit early, to arrive at 09:30) pedal out, followed by a couple of hours watching some seriously quick blokes aged from 40 to 76 chopping bits out of each other while you point them round the corners, followed by tea and cake and a scenic route home. There are six Clifton riders in the vets race - come and support them by marshalling!
Please contact me either by posting on here or by email to roadracing at cliftoncc dot org
Thanks folks...

Many, many thanks to all who have volunteered to help. I'm posting below the contents of today's email which went to all, just in case it goes astray or any of you look on here but don't check work email addresses. Anyone else who hasn't yet been in touch but who has some free time on Sunday - please come along and help! There are always jobs, and it should be fun.
First, quick recap on the events and timing:-
I'll be at North Newbald at about 08:00, will pick up the key to the village hall, unlock and start setting up. Those who are helping during the vets race - arrival anytime up to 09:30 is fine but if any of you are able to get there earlier, I'm sure there'll be jobs.
Cath will be running the catering dept, with help from Lisa Gillie (and Peter Musgrave!). If any of you need tea/coffee/cake, help yourselves.
Vets race signing-on starts 09:00, closes at 09:45. We'll have a pre-race briefing of marshals/drivers at 09:30. Riders will gather in the car park, and we'll have a pre-race briefing for them at 09:50.
The vets race is actually three separate, concurrent races. A/B will go off at 10:00, C/D at 10:03, and E/F/G/H off at 10:06. Each group will have a lead car, which will take them at neutralised speed through the village and to the top of the first steep hill, where it will sound the horn and then move further up the road for the rest of the race. There will be a following car after the last group with first aiders (from CVO) on board. The finish is after the top of the hill. I'll video it to make sure we get placings, but will garb anyone who looks sane to help log numbers. The E/F/G/H 4 lap race will finish first, then the 5 lap C/D race, then the 6 lap A/B race. They'll then be back down to HQ for tea & cake. Vets will all have single dayglo race numbers.
Here's the personnel for the morning:-
Signing-on:- Me plus whoever is around at 09:00.
Drivers:- Steve Savage, Paul Musgrave, Ian Hagyard, Steve Roebuck.
Marshals:- Tom Flemming, Toby Everett, Andy Stanforth, Hazel Stanforth, Mac, Arnie, Shaun Wrigglesworth, Bernard Turgoose, Andy Frazer, Rich Taylor.
Finish judges:- Me plus whoever is around.
There are five junctions on the circuit so marshals will be paired up at each one. When the following car passes during the last lap, you're off duty - dropped riders will be warned they're on their own. Feel free to return to HQ - leave all signage but bring any flags etc with you. There will be a prizegiving at HQ as soon as we've sorted the top placings.
There should be a bit of a lull over lunchtime (apart from signing-on for the a/noon race). Any of you who are also helping at the afternoon event, grab an envelope with a tenner in it from me (and please DO - the event finances allow for it) and head to the local (about 2mins walk) to get something to eat.
BC signing-on opens at 12:00, closes at 1:15. We'll have a pre-race briefing of marshals/drivers at 1:00, so if you're helping at the afternoon event, please be there by then. Unlike the vets race where it's run entirely by us, the BC race is effectively taken over by BC commissaires (Bob Howden, Les Barrett, Andy Brown) and we'll also have three National Escort Group motorcyclists who will have commissaire's powers - eg they can pull riders from the race for being bad people. There will be a pre-race briefing for riders at 1:20ish, and the race will start at 1:30. Riders will be led through the village and up the first hill at neutralised pace, then sounding of horn starts the race proper. It's six laps. Positioning of cars will be decided by the commissaires and instructions issued by radio. Riders will have pairs of white numbers.
Here's the personnel for the afternoon:-
Signing-on:- Whoever is around at 12:00.
Drivers:- Steve Savage, Dave Cook, Cameron Brooks, Jess Bacon
Marshals:- Tim Jackson, Toby Everett, Andy Stanforth, Hazel Stanforth, Richard Douthwaite, Dave Whiter, Arnie, Mac, Andy Frazer, Shaun Wrigglesworth.
Finish judges:- Me, Bernard plus whoever else is around.
There are five junctions on the circuit so marshals will be paired up at each one. Again, when the following car passes during the last lap, you're off duty - dropped riders will be warned they're on their own. Feel free to return to HQ - leave all signage but bring any flags etc with you. There will be a prizegiving as soon as we've sorted the top placings, and there's tea/coffee/cake etc at HQ - feel free to help yourselves.
I'll ask one of the drivers to do a lap of the circuit and collect all the signage while we're working out the placings, so no-one will miss the prizegiving.
We should all be done by about 5pm. Any help with clearing up, washing up, etc gratefully received. Since both BC and LVRC are encouraging race organisers to give priority to entrants from clubs which organise races, you'll get your reward (hopefully) in future race entries...
Many thanks to all of you, without whom, etc - I'll be around most of today / this evening if any queries.
Phil B
