Thursday Evening TT's - important

Many thanks to the organisers, helpers and marshals at the first of the Thursday SPOCOs - an excellent job done by all.

These are some brief notes based on feedback from a number of sources after the event. If you're riding these events, please take time to read them as they will help you to make the event organisers' lives easier.

*** Please do not park in the race HQ layby (on any of the circuits) unless you are part of the team of organisers/helpers or are parent of a young rider. On Thursday there were cars poking into the road, and nowhere for riders to gather. There are plenty of other places to park nearby - please make use of them.

*** If you're saddled up and waiting for the start please don't hang around in the road. If you're within a few minutes of your start then line up neatly behind the first rider; if you've longer to wait then just find a quiet bit of road to ride up and down, or get off the road. On Thursday there were groups of riders sat in the road talking - this gets in the way of traffic and leads to complaints; sadly complaints lead to problems in staging events.

*** Number positioning:- please fix race numbers at the bottom rear of jerseys (top pins on top of pockets, bottom pins at bottom of jersey. Equivalent position if you're professional enough to have a skinsuit). Partly this makes it easier for the timekeeper to read your number and give you the correct time but more importantly it means the hi-viz dayglo square makes it more likely that traffic approaching behind will spot you. I know, you're going really really fast, but the traffic will still be going faster...

Other than that, well done everyone. You're still far nicer as a collective sporting body than the racegoers currently showering Blossom Street in empty lager cans....
