Posted: Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:14 am
General Notes:
- This weeks event starts & finishes at Sheriff Hutton crossroads, there is plenty of space to park. There will be a lot of riders milling about warming up so please be careful, and please be especially courteous and considerate towards residents around Sheriff Hutton village.
This event takes place on the public highway - all rules of the road apply and riders must obey the Highway Code at all times.
Race marshal's are only there to make sure you go the right way, they cannot warn, direct or stop traffic for you.
There are stables in the area - if you see horses on the road make sure they know you are coming, slow down and take care - racehorses can be nervy and they are bigger than you.
This event takes place of unclassified country roads - there are poor surface conditions, nice big potholes and sometimes agricultural debris - newer riders should be aware that this is a very technical circuit, always ride within your ability.
- The approach to Bulmer is a fast, steep descent often with gravel at the bottom, followed by a steep climb up Bulmer Bank.
Be aware of 'Right of Way' signs when going through the arches on Castle Howard Drive. Oncoming traffic has priority and you may have to stop and give way.
You will have to make a RIGHT TURN at the T-junction before Terrington village - it is your responsibility to check for traffic and to slow down and stop if necessary. The marshal cannot stop traffic for you.
Terrington Bank is a fast, steep descent. Riders must give way to oncoming traffic on the bridge after Terrington Bank.
