Is anyone doing the Ron Kitching 100km/150km ride this Saturday:

Also with these lovely rare Summer evening anyone up for evening (intermediate) level rides?

Or EARLY Saturday rides - starting a long ride at 10am cuts too much into the day, I have the impression there are a few of you out there who might be up for earlier mornign weekend rides - but that are not quite able (YET!!) like me to hang on with the fast 09.00 Sat training ride.

I've deliberately used non Clifton Cycle Club acronymns or bike speak so hoping this all makes sense for those of us trying to break into 'beyond the vail' of the cycle world :o)

I'd be up for some evening rides. I can't do Thursday at all, most other days could work although Wednesday isn't great.

Well done for taking the initiative on this.

Am sure there is a target audience especially for earlier start Sat. Suspect you will find a floating population of takers but hopefully at least a few people will make it each week?

Why not just arrange a meeting point for a few weeks and see who turns up? No need to spend ages planning / publishing routes.

And don't be too discouraged at first. Takes a while to build a bit of momentum.

I was planning on doing one of the Ron K rides this Saturday. Does it start from the Knavesmire, is there a fee?

I'd be interested in a Saturday earlier start intermediate ish ride. Of late I just can't commit a whole day at the weekend to being out and my hill climbing fitness isn't quite there for the Saturday morning training ride. If this goes ahead I'll definitely try make it.

Yes I'm doing the 150 on Saturday and the organisers will allow you to pay on the line but you need the correct fee and the entry form filled in, link to the web page below, download the entry form and bring it along with correct money

Hi All

Not been out with the club much these past weeks - been off the bike for a while with pneumonia.

Thought I just had "man flu" until part way through the Hadrian's Cycleway ride (I shouldn't have done it but I had organised it) a few weeks ago, when I started coughing up blood!

Anyway, two courses of antibiotics and a few weeks later and I've done a few rides since on my own and thought I would have a gentle meander around the 150 RK to see if I am okay again - see some of you there at 0800h.

Mark

PS it would be really good to get a quicker method of contacting anyone interested in impromptu rides of an evening or during the day, outside of normal club rides.

A group of us in Copmanthorpe have swapped mobile phone numbers and we simply send out a text if we are planning to ride. Perhaps there is a way of replicating this across the club. It is more fun to ride with others and this allows a lot of flexibility.

Apologies for posting and then such a delayed response!

Whilst I don't want to post my mobile number on here I think we can coordinate some tel no.'s via email? Anyone interested in ad-hoc either early Sat or after work evening rides just mail me your mobile and I'll create a contact list and we can take it from there!
