All round the Cockayne loop (Brandsdale) there are Road Closed signs, on account of a major landslip at the top of the valley. No need to turn back if you are happy shouldering your bike cyclocross-style up or down a dodgy and steep bit of hillside to get around the reconstruction work. The location for this as diversion has a sign 'Pedestrian / Cycle route!
I was told by the contractor work will take at least 10 weeks!
