Arny Pearson - accident

Just an update on my recent accident, but first of all thanks
to everyone in the club for their best wishes and get well
cards. Special thanks to Alan (Pocklington) and to Rob and
Dave C for visiting and giving much needed moral support
when I was in the James Cook hospital in Middlesbrough.
I was discharged last Saturday after 4 weeks in the Trauma
Unit. I had a complete fracture of the C2 bone in the neck
and for the first 17 days the doctors tried to repair the damage
using a metal contraption known as a "Halo Brace". But despite
also using long periods of traction the fractured bones would
not come together and it was decided to operate on Thursday
6th May. Without going into details this was not a good time for
me. However the operation was a success. I am now at home
recovering and feeling better every day. I know it's going to
take a long time and I realize how lucky I've been, but I would
like to emphasise one thing. I truly believe my helmet saved
my life. Ask Rob, he saw it.
Hope to see you all soon and thanks once again for all your
good wishes.

Wishing you a quick succesful recovery Arny.

I'll second your comments on wearing a helmet. I had an accident whilst mountain biking last week at Glentress in Scotland and if I wasn't wearing a helmet I'd hate to think the state I would be in now!

Good to hear you're back home Arnie, hope you are feeling better/less pain.

I had an accident at Croft in February and I'll second you and Dan in that I am sure my helmet saved me from more serious injury.

Best wishes Arnie.
