Scotton 100 Bike Choice

Any thoughts on whether the Scotton 100 can be reasonably ridden on a road bike? As long as it doesn't rain over the next day the lanes seem to be drying out.
I'm am undecided whats best, either my road bike or a mountain bike.
Would welcome the thoughts of those of you who have done this event before.
Best regards
John

I would take the one with the most puncture resistant tyres!
The section before Aldwark has some fantastice Hawthorn hedges and on Saturday afternoon the farming man will be cutting them with his big machine, especially!

Loads of people do it on road bikes and cross bikes. If I had a cross bike I'd use that but there is no way I'm subjecting my road bike to that sort of abuse, so I shall use my old hard tail MTB like I did last year. I'm not going for a time though.

I'm entering on my FS mountain bike just got back from holiday today and can't be bothered to remove mudguards from my winter bike!
Wanted to do it on my new hardtail but it's not been delivered yet.

Dan, are you the Dan from the Saturday training rides? Want to ride it together?

Hi Steve
Yes I've been on a couple of Saturday training rides and yes we can ride together, bearing in mind I'll be on a 30lb FS mountain bike so the average speed will be somewhat slower than a Saturday ride! See you tomorrow.
