How come don't rides ever go down south?

Just curious really, not complaining, I'm perfectly happy with the destinations on Clifton CC club rides, just curious though as to why rides never go down south, like into Lincolnshire, or into the peak district or anything?
Thanks
Will.

York -> Peak District is not the shortest of routes out.....

I also mentioned Lincolnshire.
But a route into the peak district would be about 134 miles round trip from York.

I live south of York and nearly always ride East or North, sometimes West. The trouble with riding south for me is that you have to cover a lot of fairly dull flats AND cross the M62 and/or A1 before you get to the nice bits.
There is a Tour de Power Station ride sometimes I think, and I've ridden down to Womersley and beyond via Beal and a tiny bridge over the M62 to the worth-a-laugh Cridling Stubbs (does it?) but it's not my favourite landscape... Maybe you can come up with something better?

OK Will, present us with an interesting route to the Peak District avoiding main roads and the larger towns which actually goes somewhere i.e. not just over the Peak District Natl Park boundary, and I'm sure that one sunday in summer the club will be able to fit it in as a club ride.
The trouble is that between Leeds and Sheffield there's a dearth of quiet roads and a mass of busy town centres. In the other directions we have the Yorkshire Dales, NY Moors and the Wolds and lots of route choices, why would we want to go south?
