Well after all the sitting around with the snow this weekend was quite good for me. Annual lunch was great and then even though I didn't have the energy to get out Saturday morning I made it out Sunday. With Helen and Paul M leading rides from the square I opted for the shorter ride and went with Paul's group - both rides looking to have 8 or so riders.

Ride had a bit of everything with two p******** before we even got out of York then a good ride out via Tollerton, Helperby, Brafferton, Raskelf, Easingwold then up to Yearsley via a ford and icy roads (mostly okay but some big ruts in the middle of the road). From Yearsley hit Bransby, Whenby, Sheriff Hutton, West Lilling, Flaxton and back into York. Hope everyone else had a good ride.

Yes, I joined the other ride on Sunday, which was led by Helen.

7 of us set off to Masham via Helperby, Asenby, Rainton, Wath and West Tanfield. The roads were generally OK apart form a bit of ice on the minor (whatever you do, don't touch your brakes) road, from Wath to West Tanfield.

The ride was well behaved, apart from a few riders getting a bit lively after the food intake at the cafe in Masham.

We cycled home via Kirkby Malzeard, Ripon, Boroughbridge and Great Ouseburn and I clocked 77 miles for the day. A grand day out.

Having left the main group in Wath I headed to Ripon via Hutton Conyers, Sharow & found a new cafe in Ripon for elevenes( I neede an early break after the all the activity of the last week around the dinner, with 58 K done. I then headed down to Knaresboroughvis Bishop Monckton, Copgrove & Farnham during which my computer sensor ties give way & as a result I lost the ability to monitor the distance. Lunch in avery busy cafe in Knaresborough, Rascals being the only riverside one open, the other one under the rock seems to be under going a strip out & refurbishment- watch this space. Before returning back via Wetherby, Boston Spa, Tadcaster,Appleton Roebuck with about another 38 miles done. A good start up for the year after the past couple of weeks of not turning the pedals enough,
Bernard

After deciding to replace my groupset on the summer bike and transferring the old one onto my winter/training bike (from triple to 53/39 and 23/11 cassette) I managed to finally get everything done on Saturday and gave it a test ride over 35 miles with Steph for company,on a nice hilly route. Howsham, Kirkham Abbey, out towards Settrington Bank, Grimston Brow (a nice little hill), Wharam le St and back via Thixendale, Acklam Mast (which had no ice on the top!) Leavening and back to Howsham
Great little run out after the weeks of inactivity and glad to report that after a couple of weekends working on 3 bikes, I've got one back on the road and all is running well.
Only 2 more to do, Bernard you won't recognise the Barry Hoben next time you see it
Looking forward to the weekend club run

A good 6 weeks off the bike, "good" in the sense of "at least" rather than "quality", ended with a trip out with John and Willy Sunday.

Called in at the old black and white cafe in Malton rather than posh new one. Fire was nice though. Out via Bossal, Crambe and back via Coneys, Terrington.

A few chips enabled me to offset calorie burn and keep the 64.8" fixed turning. Glad it wasn't 65" a couple of times.
