Looking at the forecast I can't see the roads - at least the minor roads - being clear for road bikes again this weekend. Today I got out on the mountain bike and was able to ride reasonably along the lanes in the snow and icy bits.
Without usurping Kevin's impeccable judgement about what's viable and what isn't I was wondering if it's worth having an 'ordinary' or mountain bike road ride next Saturday so that a few people can meet, ride and socialise a bit with a margin of safety vs falls (I appreciate that skidding cars can 'take you out' whatever bike you're on).
Just a thought.....
Saturday Ride, Jan 9th

I would not want to ride with a group on these roads at the moment.
I can't forget about the deaths resulting from the accident in Wales where the car skidded on black ice and went straight in to a group of cyclists.
If you do head out on Saturday, I suggest changing the meeting place from Exhibition Square and use of-road cycle paths to get out and back into the city.
I have suggested a of-road for Sunday
