V ride 10th October

Not as many turned up to the square as one would have expected given the lovely weather, so Virginie was volunteered by Kevin to lead a small group of 3 (Virginie, Howard and Me) out towards the White Horse at Kilburn.
What a lovely ride! The climb up to the White Horse is a bit of a stinker, but the views from the top are lovely and the run along the top of Boltby Bank towards Hawnby was one of the most beautiful stretches of road I have ridden. We even enjoyed a short race with a rather quick group of mountain bikers! Lunch in Helmsley and then back via Nunnington, Hovingham, Sherrif Hutton, Strensall etc.
I have read on the website before about the famous tows from Strensall back into York by Virginie and it was a joy to be trying to hang on to the back of one today!
Many thanks to Howard and Virginie for a great day out and thanks of course to Kevin for a beautiful route.
