Chain Gang routing

Post by fatsprinter »

With a view to my last post and the road furniture in Rufforth, (what a ridiculous name - a settee for the road?) perhaps we should think about an alternative safer route.

Does one exist?

Has anyone any ideas of a safer route?

Cheers

Colin

Why not try out the existing route on Tuesday (when there'll be fewer people) and see how it works with the chicanes?

I've been thinking about this. Why not work backwards - a safe place to finish would be the back road in Bishopthorpe, so let's try and finish there.

How about this?

Meet in the same place then

Rufforth -> towards Askham Richard -> Healaugh -> Wighill -> back lanes to Tadcaster, then back on the other side of the A64, Bolton Percy -> Applelton Roebuck -> B'thorpe.

Sprint for somewhere before the final bend into B'thorpe.

That'd be fine for this week. Then for later in the year you could add a loop based at Tadcaster e.g. Tad -> Grammer School -> Braham -> old A1 -> back into Braham, up the hill by the Church and retrace.

You could even go up to Thorner for the extra miles in high summer when we're all raring to go. It's hilly there mind.
