EasyRiders' Not-So-Easy Ride

Post by willyh »

There were six EasyRiders leaving the square on Saturday at 09.30, waved away by Jon, who 'was a bit early' for the expected 10 am mass ride starts.

Some had been hibernating all winter with various excuses, like a punishing schedule of conferences, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Jerusalem, what a life!
But all were eager to get some miles in, and get back to some fitness, and the prospect of 60km+ was greeted with unthinking enthusiasm.

Alison was especially keen, riding her new Scott on the second day out after a trip to Hutton-le-Hole the day before, and she was to carry on with John to Kilburn after a very pleasant lunch stop in Crayke cafe. The others were easily pursuaded to do the sensible thing and head back to York via a series of scenic extra loops via Raskelf, Helperby with a little shopping stop at Beningborough Hall farm shop (excellent value coffee to sip outside, but the confectionary temptations were sensible left alone).

Although saddles reputedly started to hurt (surely it must have been bums) all made it back to York at a good pace, after learning the lessons of vital refuelling. Smiles all round!

EasyRides from now on will be Monday eves at 6 from the square, with occassional weekend rides as and when to be announced. I will be away for 3 weeks, but John Murphy will maintain contact in the interim
