clifton kit at Cycle Heaven

Post by trevorj »

Thanks to Willy again for organising the bike maintenance sessions with Alastair at Cycle Heaven. I think I was the only one who really had done nothing before, other than repair punctures.
Still, many enjoyed using £300 tools to adjust their bottom brackets to the correct tork etc. etc....... I am now able to adjust gears and replace cables and brake pads with confidence.
Last night Alastair showed us the new batch of kit that has just arrived. I'm told there are plenty of 'average cyclist size' garments now.
If anyone has got to this point in this missive, are plodding new club cyclists like me allowed to wear the jersey in public events?
I have entered the Etape Caledonia and don't want to give the club a bad name.
Anyone else going? [to act as a wind shield for me, of course, but if this fails there should be some among the 3000 riders for me to sponge energy off.

Any member is entitled to wear club kit wherever they please, while moving at whatever pace, in whatever direction! We never claim to be the fastest club***, just the friendliest!

(*** except in the TLI series, of course....)

wearing the club kit with pride

Thanks Phil for these reassuring words. Glad to hear this news. And I entirely agree about being a very friendly club. I shall now try and enter the cauldron of races and challenges which seems to have come to life in the past few weeks. My first springtime in the club- what an active lot you are!
