Tommorow's the ride leaving from the end of Stockton Lane (town end, mini roundabout). Again, I'll be there, but if it looks icy I'll go straight home.

Sorry I missed you guys. I did get out for an hour a little later on. It was one of those current rarities - a high friction evening.

Marylyn, Howard, and Myself were the only ones there until we set off at 18.35 the roads were wet but not icy when we got to Pig S***t alley it was bad in places and we spent quite some time to cover that section walking in several places (no wonder average speed times are well down) but its far better to be very cautious.

Altered the route home slightly going off the Buttercrambe road through the trees back to Sand Hutton, then retraced our tracks back home.

Guys, Pig Lane is *never* gritted. What's more its sheltered from the sun by those trees. If there's ice anywhere its going to be down there. If you're unsure about ice then its always best to stick to the slightly more major routes - to clear the ice you need both salt and a bit of traffic to work it in. Gally Gap is usually a good bet - you can always just ride up there for x minutes then turn around and retrace.

Apologies if the above sounds patronising, just offering advice to a wider audience than just those that were out on Wed eve.

Pig Lane is the lane joining Buttercrambe and Bossall. Its not really got a name, I've always called it that due to the free range pigs in the fields down there. Gets very muddy at times.
Gally Gap is the road that starts as a turning off the A166 just W of Stamford Bridge and goes via Buttercrambe all the way to Malton. Of course we tend to join GG just to the N of the A166.
