Bike mechanicals and maintenance

In the summer I sollicited interest from people interested in taking part in some reasonably elimentary bike mechanicals hands-on workshops, and there were not a few who said 'great, I'm on.'
They would be held fortnightly in the workshop at Cycle Heaven, early evening 'bout 6.30 and last an hour or so. So far Tuesday eve seems most popular. Cost will depend on numbers taking part, but not more that £3 max.
Alastair at Cycle Heaven will be the tutor, and the plan is to start straightaway in the new year.
Subject areas could be:
Basic set-up, position, that sort of thing.
Brakes, brake blocks and cables.
Gears and chains
Head set, bottom bracket, pedals, lubing
People interested are asked to respond pronto, so planning can move to the next stage. Please mention any other specific you'd like to see covered.

Time to get your diaries out: the dates for the bike workshops sessions at Cycle Heaven are:
January 20
February 3 and 17
March 3 and 17
So far six people have signed up, being Ian H, Tim R, Michael C, Dottore D, Trevor J, Karen T. This leaves just a very few spare opportunities, so get in quick if you too would like to be able to tune your pride and joy to perfection.
The cost will be £2.50 per session (for an optimum number of 10 attending) which will go directly into the pocket of Alastair, who has agreed to tutor the sessions in his spare time, starting at 6.30, and probably running not later than 8.
My original suggestions for subject areas are in the 24th November discussion post. To make sessions relevant it is proposed we could work on own bikes, provided they are not terminally diseased. Probably 2 bikes at a time would work best.
You'll understand that in order to reduce the risk of negative finance I'll ask for the fees for the full 5 sessions to be coughed up in advance at the first session on January 20th, and for your intent to be firmly registered by return.
So....that's all....and have a year of thrills....but no spills!

Does this workshop help people with most things on the bike? If so this is amazingly good value, infact the same thing pretty much but done by Edinburgh Cycles are doing the same for 50 quid !?!?!?!

, thats for one session too

, then at the end of it you seen some of em spending about 200 quid on accessories

I take it from today's email that you would like confirmation of attendance. I shall be there, but please not my bike as one of the two for the first session on 20 Jan as will have to bolt from work directly. All others dates i will have time to bring my beloved bike.
And thanks again for organising this much needed course.

Hi Willy,
Is there room for one more? If there is I'll be there on the 20th.

Better close entries now, we're actually over the suggested number ten, but this will allow for likely last minute personal attendance problems caused by crashes, colds, flu's and other benefits of being a cyclist in the UK.
We've got, in strict order of appearance (not personal appearance it will be understood): Ian H, Tim R, Michael C, Il Dottore, Trevor J, Karen T, Elaine R, PhotoBen, Terry B, Trevor J, Michael C, Billy G.
And that has to be it. We'll have fun. And maybe dirty fingers too.
