The White Rose Classic is dead...long live the White Rose Challenge.

The HQ's changed, but from what I can see the route is the same.

Sun 28th June entries have just opened.

Did this with Dave C last year and had a great day out. Will almost certainly do it again this year.

I've done the White Rose each year, and have just entered again the 182km. It's a good warm-up for the Etape. White Rose also always seems to have brilliant weather, and the organisation and route marking is excellent. (Although some people still manage to get lost...)
I would encourage some of our regular saturday 45-60 milers to have a go at the 130km White Rose distance: it gets you into the fabulous Dales territory and usually there will be spare bike racks available for the trip to the Otley start.

Hello Willy!

Hmm, yes, I must hold my hand up and say that this year I did indeed fail to complete the full WRC route due to certain navigational "issues".

I certainly intend to do the longest route next year. This time, I shall take the precaution of loading my whizzo new Garmin GPS with the entire route. It should then be a piece of cake to navigate round the long course even if a few, or even all, route markers go walkies. What could possibly go wrong? Paper maps are so last year aren't they? :D

There seems to have been a power struggle over the White Rose - well documented on a thread on the veloriders forum a few weeks back. Looks like there's now two - the "Challenge" run by Derek Boocock (the previous organiser - and the photographer who covers the TLI's) and the other one organised by BC....

Oh for chuffs's sake!!

Not sure how many Dales sportives a summer can contain:

Richmond 5 Dales, Dales Grimpeur, Etape Du Dales, WR Classic, WR Challenge ....

Still we've a few weeks yet before entries need to be posted, diaries filled etc

Quote from organiser of WR Challenge:
Just to clarify, the White Rose Classic will be run by Kudu Bikes on a new course from out of Hawes. Unless BC do a complete U-turn, then it will not be run by them. I wish them well with it and it can only be good for us sportive riders to have a new event.

The White Rose Challenge is my event in aid of Cancer Research. Run on the original course, I wanted to use the original name but was not allowed to. I (and hopefully BC) have moved on, I just want to be left to make my event a huge success.

It will be quite a weekend I can assure you. Having on-board a chirity like Cancer Research has huge benefits, we will be making a weekend of it with trade stands, bike demos and a real family occasion. Plus we will be giving away a mens and ladies bike to the best fundraisers. I just hope it does get the support it deserves.
I'd like to ride this and see if I can better my time from last year (assuming similar weather conditions etc).

I think this is the one I will enter as the course was very good and like you say Dave you can see if you can better last years time.

Any more for this one???
