Would someone going to the square tomorrow for any of the Saturday rides
mention that next week on Sunday it's the Arthur Metcalfe Ride.
We have done this as the club run for the last 4 or 5 years. It starts in Easingwold, registration from 8.30,ride start from 9.45am.There is a choice of 4 distances with the 50 and 75 mile route going out to the Howardian Hills. Entry cost of £7 funds go to Macmillan cancer support.
We meet up at the square ,ride out and do the 75 mile loop and ride back together. It's a good first Sunday club run but for those who would find it that bit to far,is there anyone who would lead a group just doing the 50mile loop?
We could still ride out and back together.

I've already registered for the 50 mile loop and would be glad of the company on the ride out and back. I don't think I'm up to leading a group though.

Can you just sign up on the day?

Yes - you can just sign up on the day.

Ben - Would you be happy to be named as a Clifton person for the 50 mile
loop so other club members wanting to do it know who to look out for.

Helen's beaten me to it. If the ride out from York is being led, then the group going round the loop needs only a light touch. The route is waymarked and it just needs the Clifton riders to meet up at the start and agree they'll be riding together (or not). Then just keep an eye on each other to make sure nobody is suffering excessively. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. :D

Yeah I'd be up for that.
I'm guessing the idea is to start together for the first 25 mile circuit then split on the return to Easingwold depending on how far you want to ride.

Thanks Ben

Plan to meet up at Exhibition Square at 8:30am and ride out to Easingwold
Ride the 25 mile loop together then split up back in Easingwold.

I suggest stopping at Hovingham for a cafe, that's where we will be having a stop on the 75 mile loop. It's a great cafe and if the weather is nice or you are in hurry you can just use the bakery and sit outside. There is another cafe in the village,if they are really busy, in the organic/fairtrade store.

Depending on how long you wish to wait we can re-group at the finnish and
ride back together. I plan to go back over the tollbridge,Cattal,Tockwith and Long Marston avoiding York, that won't suit everyone and I'm sure some people will go back via Benningbrough.

I've supported this ride every year since it started - Arthur Metcalfe was one of my heroes when he was riding. I can't do the one this weekend :( so do enjoy yourselves :D and remember it's also for a good cause.
