Saturday's Social Ride.

After a long absence (about 15 years) I would like to get back into cycling. I have bought a road bike and have been going on 20-30 mile rides on my own for the last couple of months but want to start cycling with a club again.

I used to ride with Clifton CC in the early 1990’s when I was in my late teens but got older and slowly drifted away from the sport. I did do the CTC’s version of the overnight ride to Ullswater when I was 14 years old in the late 1980’s, think they called it the 24-hour standard ride then. Still proud of that moment!

I have maintained an element of fitness but don’t want to jump straight in and push myself too soon. I would like to join in the social ride on a Saturday, I understand there is a more leisurely and shorter ride other than the long 90 mile plus one’s I read about in the “Weekend Round-up” thread?

Do the more leisurely social rides run every Saturday? If so will it be 10am in Exhibition Square this Saturday?

Look forward to riding with the club again.

Hi Dan
There are normally 2 groups leaving the square - sometimes 3 if there are enough people. Distance varies, but just ask for Kevin, or if he's not there then you want the steady ride.

Welcome back Dan! I was in the Uni Club in the early 90's, but knew a lot of the Clifton gang at the time. A few of them are still around - you'll see Kevin Scully on Saturday and Paul Musgrave is banging the miles out (slowing down a bit now though, bless him  ) Pete Skelton is still racing.
