Track session at Manchester 11 Oct

I have looked into hiring the track for a club session after the racing season ends, to allow as many club members the chance to have a go at riding on the track as we can.

It is not practical to hire the track for an exclusive club session, so I have picked a public "taster" session, the one on Saturday 11 Oct. The session is described on their website as "The session for the novice track rider. This is where you start. We supply the bikes, the helmet and the coaching. The session is conducted under the watchful eye of one of our experienced coaches. You will be taught the basics of safe track riding and have an hour on the track. You will need to book this session in advance."

Could anyone who wants to come simply book themsleves on it direct with the Velodrome and post here to let others know. We can organise lifts later.

The session is a public one and it is first come first served. There were 13 places still available at the time I write this.

Cost is £9.30 and the session runs from 6-7pm. Full details at http://www.manchestervelodrome.com/stat ... ire_p6.htm

I was going to write a bit to encourage you all to have a go, but if you're not feeling motivated and enthusiastic now then there's not a lot I can say to change that!

I'll be living in manchester then so I'd deffenitly like to come up as its only a short 2.9miles walk for me to the velodrome. Surely people dont have the book in yet?? And I've been looking for ages so call me blind but I cant find the bit in quites on the site or the dates, seems the taster sessions are every day apart from monday.

I don't mind driving if anyone else is up for it.

I was hoping Clifton might starting doing this soon. I actually plan to do at least one taster session a month at Manchester this winter, having done just one before now.
I might not be able to make this weekend however as it's a family member's birthday,
but to anyone thinking about going I can whole heartedly recommend it. Everything can be hired at the track but its easier to take your own helmet and the hire bike use pedals that fit the older Look Delta cleats, which is worth keeping in mind. The taster sessions involve just riding the track for an hour, going as high or as fast as you feel you can. The coach was excellent and a big help.

Do you have to book now if you really want a place? Either way if I dont get in I'll proberbly come and watch if possible, should be interesting.

Either way I plan to do a taster session and then start going regular, will get my own track bike eventually, want a job and work tons of overtime for a couple of weeks to get some money then get a track bike, when I do a taster session I want to know how fast I can do on a sprint, I hope they have speedo's!

If any of the younger members of the club fancy having a go the age range
is 12 and up. If you are under 18 and plan to come without a parent you would need to ring and check whether you need a signed parental consent form.

I have just booked a place as well. :D
They say to arrive at 17.30 but I guess it would be best to allow plenty of time.
It would be good to lift share so I can either contribute or happy to take my car.

Just got round to organising for me and Alice to go, and they are fully booked now on the 11th.

I have now booked us both a place on the 25th (October), and there are 4 more places left that day at the moment.

So same deal as before - if you want to come then we can share lifts and generally give moral support to get off the blue line.

Cheers
