These guys were ahead of there time, Andrew and were knocking out winning times 40 years ago that would still win an open time trial today and all have held National records and won National time trial championships. Roy Cromack still held the national 24hr record until the mid 90's - a record he set in 1969 - 507 miles - think about that! - it was the longest held national record.
John Watson still rides and if you ever need an extension building runs Watsons builders. Both John and Pete come to the club dinner and Roy Cromack lives in Haxby, I think, and I see him occasionally cycling up Haxby Road in civvies.

If I remember correctly the 4th member of the '68 team time trial squad was Scotsman Billy Bilsland who was dropped early on in the event. He also rode the road race - puncturing out of the winning break - however the double disappointment was shortlived as he went onto a solid pro career with Peugeot and Raleigh on the continent and later helped Robert Millar break into continental pro cycling.
