So how was the TLI? I heard there was a crash? Anyone from the club caught in it?

The crash happened in the scratch group at the end of the first lap, a couple of riders about 4 bike lengths in front of me rubbed wheels and went down leaving around 10 of us with nowhere to go but straight into them. Luckily both myself and bike where fine and able to carry on, a group of six then formed from the carnage finishing a couple of minutes behind the main bunch. How did everyone else get on?

These TLi's seem to batter quite a few people dont they, makes me wonder how when some people fall off they dont get so many cuts and the shorts are not torn to shreds :S

I was near the back of the group when the crash happened and just about had time to avoid it. Was suffering a bit with the pace in the scratch group esp during the second lap but the legs got going a bit in the second half and i ended up with 5th which i was pleased with considering there were a few faster lads there this week than 2 weeks ago. Paul Bennett seemed to be doing quite a bit on the front on the last lap but not sure where he finished?

They only Batter people Will because of poor handling skills and lapse's in concentration, trust me that can even happen on a club run and often do

Forwarded from the organiser:-
Just a reminder that the final race of the 2008 Chevin Cycles TLI Road race series on Tuesday the 5th August starts at the earlier time of 7PM
The race will be followed by the overall prize presentation, which depending on the weather will be held in the carpark or in the signing on room, upstairs in the Leisure Centre.

I tend to think the success of this prize presntation could depend on the organisers actually having the championship shield in their possession on the night. As I write this it is still twinkling at me from the er trophy cabinet. As I wasn't planning to ride, would anyone, who is definately going to be there, be willing to take it off my hands? Can deliver.

Hi Paul, I'll definitely be going so if you can get it to me between now and Tuesday, I'll take it (and will email Brenda to tell her it'll be there!).

Quick report back from the final TLI on the Kirby Hill circuit. A pretty foul evening with heavy drizzle and leaden skies. A local farmer had decided there was nothing good on TV and was out trimming his hawthorn hedges along about a mile of the route, and during the race we encountered a flock of sheep coming towards us - it was a rather surreal evening.
Dave Cook and Dave Byworth went off in the first group, Ian Hagyard and I in the second, and Andy Johnno and Matt in the scratch group. The first group were clearly already in holiday mood as we caught them after two laps, despite patchy co-operation. The resulting bunch in turn got caught by the scratch group on the run-in to the bell, and the pace duly yo-yo'd all the way to the final corner and the dash up the hill. Matt made a bold move off the front on the final lap but got brought back, and Andy and I were near the front as the finish got within sight but... ...not quite near enough. Matt was just outside the top ten, with Andy a couple of places back and me a couple more. Chevin and Crosstrax had piled in the troops and a number of them were near the front, so...
...the upshot when it came to the prizegiving was that Clifton, Chevin and Crosstrax had tied for first place in the team shield. However, Crosstrax had got the highest placings, so they got it. Andy Johnno took 6th overall in the series, and I got 9th.
Well done to everyone who had a first go at racing during this series, and set your training diaries for 2009, team...

Good efforts everyone - at least Chevin didn't win!

"...at least Chevin didn't win!"
Indeed. I don't think joint first counts as having our asses whupped or whatever Fury Face was supposed to do to us
