Big day on Sunday! - 3B Audax

Am hoping they'll be plenty of takers for the Clifton "3 Bridges" Audax on Sunday. No matter how experienced you are there always something satisfying about riding 100miles. And this is the most efficient way of doing it - no need to drive anywhere

, largely flat route

, new roads

, lots of wheels to follow

, good company

, cake at the end

.
I've offered to lead a happy group on a 2 cafe strategy, back in Stamford sometime between 4 and 5 (prob more like 5). Let the pseudo-racers go! If you want to join me; see you at the start.

Oh, and I'll be there
whatever the weather.

I'm looking forward to the three bridges, just wondering if anyone will be riding up from the square as I can meet there.

Another query as to whether we can get a group going out from the square - I'll need to register at the start (sorry Mark!) so will be leaving York a bit early...

OK, suggest we leave the Square at 0800. The A166 is usually OKish at that time of the morning so can go direct route.
Dr Dave, it'll help Mark if you print off a form and have it filled in ready.

Hi Rob
I've recently joined clifton and was wondering if it's ok if I ride with your group. Mark A informs me this is the perfect ride for the magical 100+ milestone.
Cheers
Rich

Hi Rich,
See you at the Square just before 0800 or Stamford Bridge just after 0830...

Any ideas who will be leading the fastish paced group? Looks an awsome day, light rain showers, 19 degrees and 3mph NNW wind with no gusts

will - don't expect the fastish paced group to be lead. It'll form ad hoc on the road, and will just depend on who does the ride (both Clifton and non-Clifton).

Oh well I'm happy with that, I'll proberbly just go as fast as the clifton gang go then, if it ends up been a small amount going at a faster pace I might stay back, dont like super small groups.

I shall be trying to hang on to Ian H's and Arthur's wheels, don't know how fast they are intending to go. If there are people there who go faster than them, well good luck to them, I shan't be trying to hold on. Will, you having ridden with both Ian and I, I think you'll probably want to ride in our group.
I usually like to ride this one quite slickish being flat, and last year the average for the ride was 18.7mph. Truth is though, I don't have the same kind of fitness this year so I shall probably follow wheels most of the time and if the pace gets a little too hot for me, slip back to Rob's team.
Interestingly I went for a check up with the doctor today and they ask if you take regular exercise and if so what? When you answer cycling they always put moderate in the exercise box. If cycling over coal road in the Dales Grimpeur, holding Ian H's wheel or getting your heart beating at 194bpm cycling over the Worlds End mountain in Wales is moderate, I wonder what intense exercise would be

If its minimal wind 18.7mph should be good to go, that Mother Shipton Audax seen me average 17.9mph and it was not exactly calm.

My whole neck is aching and feels stiff. Any ideas why? It suddenly started last night, anyway to get rid or sooth it as it would be abit of a problem for sunday this would be!
