Help needed 3rd 10th July (SPOCO)

I am organising the next two SPOCOs on 3rd, 10th July
The first event is on the flat 10 course and second on longer Coneysthorpe circuit (the one we did this week).
For the first event we will need quite a few bodies. The number of entrants means a couple at the start and a couple at the finish + 2 preferably 3 marshalls out on the course.
For the second event less pressure at start finish but we will still need at least 2 + extra bodies out on the course.
Please either PM or post offers of assistance on this thread.

I can help on the 3rd July TT, but not sure if I can marshall being under 18. Could do something else though?

There are traffic lights on the 10 course just south of the roundabout in Sutton.Don't know how long they are likely to be there but they've dug several big holes and the works extend the length of the houses on the right hand side. Looks like they are laying cables.
I could check it out again on Wednesday. If they are still there then an alternative would be to take the first left after the start and left again which comes out further along the same road south of Sutton to pick up the course. Don't know how much this will shorten the circuit but there is potential to extend the finish up towards Sheriff Hutton?

you'd be better off taking 2nd left apposite farlington turn off as the 1st left takes you on to that road but you have to turn left on a blind junction.

Hi Rab - can line you up with a job at start finish line. What i do need is a definite commitment. Will be pleased to see you around 7 - 7:15 please.
If we do have to go with a slightly amended course would be good to get marshalls on the "unexpected" corners. So a couple more volunteers please.

been out this morning and road works are still there in fact i don't think
any works been done since i last went past last friday, so i don't hold much hope of it been finished by thurs night.
alternates ? one already suggested would maybe knock off 2 miles ? not sure - or change of course - the ten clifton used to do starting from top of hill before farlington to stillington - turn left half way through village - left towards original 10 start - left to s/hutton - left at r/about to finish at point where whenby circuit finishes.
or maybe just do the whenby course its fairly flat apart from 2 climbs to finish.
open for discussion ????

Mark,
Just from an administrative point of view.... the police have been told the roads we'll be using and will expect us to be using those. Therefore the least deviation from the original route the fewer potential problems. Could start just S of roadworks and finish just N, but this gives other problems. Therefore maybe best to stick to original with minimum detour to avoid the works. At this stage I wouldn't be overly concerned about the exact distance.

Either me or Paul will drive out tomorrow and check the roadworks - will try alternative route taking 2nd left and check distance- maybe finish further up the road to get as close to 10 miles as possible.
Will let you know.

I'm going to be driving up as my daughter and a mate of hers have volunteered to help (more under-18's at the finish line, Mark) so could someone with a friendly face pop in at the square at 6:15 and make sure Rab doesn't end up taking the scenic road out please?

Mark.
I have deadly man flu (a cold) so I will not ride on Thursday so I will be happy to marshal this week, I will get there before half past cos the wife is using the car earlier, or if I feel a lot better I wil cycle out there in good time.
Cheers.

rob's right don't matter about distance its the taking place of event that matters.
