well I certainly know how to pick em when I set off from Workington this morning it was a lovely sunny day then the weather started becoming worse and worse I faced a headwind all the way and by the time I faced Hartside it was blowing a gale towards me all the way up and felt gale force as I approached the top I met my wife who was supporting me at the cafe also it was starting to pour down and was so cold, she asked me if I really wanted to carry on, so after a hot coffee and some food in the cafe I put on a better waterproof top and set off again to see how it goes, despite the conditions I still felt good and was glad I had decided to carry on.

By the time I had crossed Stanhope moor and the Waskerly Way and rode all the other off road sections to Newcastle my new Cyclocross bike and I were filthy.

I was very pleased with my time of 10 hours 27 mintues which was half an hour quicker than last year when the weather was much better (must have been the new bike).

Looking forward to August Bank holiday when I will be doing it over three days with my mates.

Well done Ian.
That was a really good ride, definitly character building stuff.
We had a much easier time of it on the Grimpeur the weather was sunny and only a light wind.

Yes, well done Ian. I did the C2C last October but other a much more pleasant 3 days. Wouldnt want to do it in one day however especially if the weather was bad. You will enjoy it more in August over 3 days when there is more time to stop at various pubs on route.
