Phil was marshalling last night, Dave Byworth set off in the front group with Ian Hagyard and Chris Cuckson in the middle group and Nick Butcher and myself in the scratch group. I think there was approx 5/6 mins from first group departing to scratch group getting underway.
Scratch group caught group 2 just after the Walsford roundabout and swept up the front group shortly after that, the race stayed together with a few attacks going but getting brought back. Nick B got 4th with me three bike lengths back in 5th so a promising start to retain the team trophy, Ian, Chris and Dave all finished safely in the bunch.

Minor correction - Dave B punctured (

) (again)
From my vantage point at the Boroughbridge roundabout team red'n'black looked very much in the thick of it. They'll have to prise us off that trophy!

And a bit of grey'n'black! I should get a jersey!...
As ever the walshford course was boring but we all did a fair bit of work and chasing. The finish is always so hard to judge and my legs went to jelly on the early sprint! Good ride by everyone though!

Quick report on last night; Milby circuit (start/finish locations changed from last year). Clifton a bit thin on the ground, with Ian H marshalling and just myself and Andrew G, doing his first ever road race. Andrew off in the first of three groups, me in the second, following a lecture about "no swearing in the villages - there were complaints last year". We worked like stink and caught the first group after a lap and a half, but then messed around and got caught by the scratch group, so it was a big bunch finish. I got myself nicely in the front half dozen by the last half mile and then, as usual, forgot to sprint, coming in about 15th or so with Andrew a couple of places in front, getting dangerously close to points on his first outing.
Bishopswood circuit next week, down near Cawood. Come on Team Clifton, who's up for it?!?

But Dave, no-one's ever bothered trolling us before! It may never happen again!! This is friendly, low-key local cycle racing! I'm aghast!
