Sorry to bring this up.

I got the results back of an MRI scan, basically, said everything was fine apart from I have a small paths of wear on the articular cartilage on the back of the knee cap, it then says this area of wear would certainly explain the discomfort I experience in my knee after heavy exercise.

So any ideas what this means? It does not say I should stop cycling, I'm planning and going to do the ron kit on Saturday. Would glucosamine sulphate and omega 3 oil capsules help resolve the problem and repair the damage? I've toned down the amount of cycling by quite abit, I take 1-2 days off after each ride and tend to only do long rides now with increased rest.

Anterior knee pain - and peri-articular cartilage damage as described implies excessive loading at the front of the knee. This may well be partially caused by having the saddle too low or too far forwards.

Your comments about your riding are sensible Will. I'd suggest following your Dr's advice regarding the treatment but making sure that your saddle is correctly sited. Hopefully your recent bike-fit should have done this already!

Yes I'm hoping that the knee pain has gone down as a result of the bike fit, at first tbh the bike fit felt like total crap, I was all weird but I've adjusted fine now and flying up hills after a good length of recovery.

I'm back in York now until September so I cant really get an appointment with the doctor, unless he'll let me talk to him over the phone, just says at the bottom of the letter though.
