the stretch of road from junction of holtby through wighill to junction
with stockton on forest is closed for the whole day tomorrow ( 11th )
for essential roadworks ? does anyone know what they are ? don't
want them throwing down a load of loose gravel ( cheap repairs ) couple
days before the prologue.

Do we need someone to see what state of play is?

I "think" i am free tomorrow night - if so will take a spin round

Paul went by this afternoon and asked the workmen - it's just a few patches in the road and they assured him they'd be finished tomorrow.

Thanks to all who have been in touch about the roadworks. The guy I was speaking to assured me that they would be finished Thursday morning - they just appeared to be doing some patching work and weren't going to be putting chippings down.
If anyone is out that way tomorrow afternoon I would appreciate confirmation that the work is complete - as I won't now be able to get out there till Friday which is - well too late!

The temporary traffic lights in Warthill have now gone....but further along the route, just before the turning to Stockton there are more road works in progress - looks like this only the edge of the road though

Just driven the route. No sign of any roadworks just some patches of new tarmac. I've heard of roads being retarmaced before the Tour de France but never expected it to happen here!

Hope the event goes well tonight from the organisation point of view, given all the hard work put in so far, and best of luck to everyone competing. Also hope you enjoy better weather than we're currently getting in this neck of the woods!

Ditto. I can't be there but I know people have put a lot of work into this. I'm sure it'll be a great event.
