Fine, Dave, stand me up why don't you!

A truly gorgeous morning, with mist hanging over the river when I set off (alone...) with Ross and Melly joining me at Bishopthorpe and eventually catching AndyM and another fella near Aberford. My front tyre exploded as we rolled up to sign on, but a bit of teamwork got everything back in working order in time for the "middle markers" departure, with Andy Johnston leading the enormously large bunch out. As the miles rolled by and the pace cranked up it thinned out, and I managed to bridge across what turned out to be a decisive gap at Bishopwood, eventually finishing with the front group of a dozen or so. Bit bloomin' brisk for "middle markers" though - just a whisker under 21mph average meant we finished about ten minutes before the fast lads.

A well-organised ride - good signposting, stacks of cake at the finish (always my main consideration) and a massive turnout. Some moments of excitement due to squeezing past riders from the earlier slower group but everyone stayed upright. Back home for 3pm and still have the excitement of wondering whether my raffle ticket will triumph! :D

Nice day out wasnt it? Couldnt have asked for nicer conditions. Really well attended with 500+ riders. The fast group was pretty quick it got lined out at 30mph + on the flat on quite a few occassions! Nice to be towed along by a few Team Sky riders!

Ride back home was good too, about 90 miles all in.

eventually found a pic too (to the right of the node 4 giordana rider):

Great ride, just under 50 mile at 22.3mph average, so was a bit brisk!

A little sketchy in places with so many bikes screaming down single track lanes passing slower riders, but everyone stayed safe and upright and I enjoyed it. Fun to ride with so many other riders on local roads too, and for such a great cause. 77 miles all in for me and glad I made the effort to get up and ride out too it - nice to be able to say I've ridden with Ben Swift and "Node4 Giordana rider" Malcolm Elliott too!
