At a tad over 80 miles @over 20 mph for 4 hours not a bad morning riding and back in time to put some flags out so b points there. The lap of Milby was fast but the way we went about it was a credit to the lads who rode it.Well all the ride saying that.Myself am just about going well again but about@Wiggington the rope had run out and i turned for home.Toby and Cam going well but everyone held it together just about :D will the chain gang be on Tuesday still as i need to arrange a sitter for the kids if so.

About 78 miles door to door for me this morning, with similar averages to everyone else. Really enjoyed the ride, it's definitely nice to be back riding with Clifton after a few weeks solo.

Phil, that was me that said 'morning' to the horse as we rode by.. he looked very curious so thought I'd be sociable :D

Thanks for the company all.

Bless. :D It's moments like that which make the training rides worthwhile...

No-one said last week that it wouldn't be on next Tuesday Tim. Not 100% sure I will be down but will be v. surprised if no-one turns up.

Good training ride this morning. Although it wasn't planned, pleased that pace wound up after Crayke. Feels like we squeezed every last drop of training benefit out of the ride, which was great..

Never seen seen so many horses out on the training ride! Horses spottted that is, not actually riding bikes (that would be ridiculous  ).
Thanks to Phil et al for the stats re: watts/ave speed, etc....My Horse Countometer tells me that 23 horses (approx.) were spotted in total. That includes about a dozen horses galloping across the road from one field to another (seemed a bit bizarre that, but then I am a Townie!) and one talking horse of course....Does anyone remember "Mr Ed"? One for the over 40s I think :?

Steve Bell's If cartoon in the Guardian always reckoned Ronald Reagan modelled himself on Mr Ed, but I'd never seen the original until I googled him just now. Priceless!

Apologies for the gap in the stats, Cam - the SRM's only do Watts, not horsepower

Really enjoyed this morning. First time out with the racing crowd/training ride since Jan/Feb. Pleased that I managed to 'make the selection' on the Milby loop although started cramping 3/4 of the way round and had to soft tap to the meeting point. Less pleased that my resolve dissipated on the way back from Crayke and I didn't dig in and stay with the bunch. Still, feel I acquitted myself OK after months off the fast stuff although Tobz and a few others have clearly come on in leaps and bounds and are waaaaay ahead of this old fart!

Thanks for the ride guys.....

"a few much, much older faces..." Oi! I hope you’re not including me in that, "who still seem capable of cranking the pedals round briskly"……oh that’s ok then you’re not  .

Nice to be capable of riding with the training squad again especially after my last two outings and no-one was more surprised than me to be still there at the end. I’ve had a very poor year in terms of miles in my legs, so perhaps a bit of MTB racing even though I’ve only mixed it with back markers and been lucky to get much more than an hour’s race before being pulled out due to being lapped, must have done much more good than I thought, a race’s a race I suppose. I can’t get too cocky though, the Boroughbridge route suits me the best of the training routes and I didn’t last long on the Milby circuit so I got a good rest whilst waiting for the regroup and whenever the pace popped over 23mph (which it did for quite a while on the way back) all I could do was sit on the last wheel of the train.

I can’t help being delighted with today because I know nothing gives my body a better kick up the backside than turning myself inside out to keep on some good wheels for three hours. I know myself well enough that when I’ve recovered in a few days time it will have noticeably improved my speed – it’s all good, thanks for putting up with me.
