Mark,
Up to the end of 2011 season the old kit is still registered with BC as our race kit. The changes only affect 2012 season onwards and the new kit will be registered as our new kit from then.
The change was made as the old arrangement with CH was coming to a (mutual) conclusion. In addition we had to find a new stockist for the kit which also necessitated removal of CH logo (to avoid brand conflict). In fact we decided that the Club no longer wanted a single brand partnership/sponsorship moving forward so we could concentrate on sponsorship on an event by event basis without sponsor conflict. It also allows the Club more freedom to move stockist, if needed, in the future with any more re-designs.
So in summary lots of things coincided to require a kit change and we took a decision that, as we had to pay for artwork anyway, we take the opportunity to overhaul the design rather than tweak it.
Hopefully this clarifies. There'll be more details in the Cliftonite but if you want any further info please drop me a line.

Does this mean I have to buy the new kit for racing next year. Do you have to wear the registered kit?
I'm happy enough with the old kit for racing, I don't particularly mind what it looks like. I bought it this year, and I only race 5 or 6 times a year. I reckon it will be good for a few years yet, and the skinsuit will last me forever.

Depends how many tea-cakes you eat in the cafe this winter Darren.
Great new design - surely sufficiently similar to the old one that BC or CTT will not care.... apart from that CH logo

. Am currently trying to source an iron-on patch. Maybe we could have a competition to see who can find the best one!

How about the white Rose of Yorkshire for a patch but don't tell Sam Smiths of Tadcaster.

For open time trials, you can wear club clothing or any top that does not have advertising or company logos other than the registered sponsors of the club. This rule does not apply to club only events.
My reading is design doesn't come into but we are a bit stuck with the logo as Cycleheaven will no longer be registered as club sponsor.
Pretty unlikely to be pulled up though and even then only if someone complained. I have only ever seen people being chastised for not having sleeves (which is a bit more obvious)! It would be a shame though if did happen as may cause awkward situation for organizer.
Not sure iron on patch will work with skinsuit
But bit of fabric pen might do the trick. Or else some sort of patch but would have to be made out of something equally as stretchy as suit material otherwise may result in comedy effect. Wasn't there someone producing skinsuits in York until recently?
Having said all above i may order new skinsuit as old one showing signs of "pin fatigue", even on my limited racing schedule! Did anyone try one on the other night?

Yes I tried the Premium Skinsuit short sleeve, will be ordering a medium, feels like a quality garment.

Not sure that LVRC and/or TLI regs preclude old kit - cursory browse of handbooks failed to spot mention but I may have missed it?

Dave - TLI/LVRC are happy for you to wear whatever you choose. I'd be very surprised if BC gave anyone any grief for wearing the "old" kit - many clubs seem to change every year (often as sponsors come & go) and I've certainly seen up to three versions of one club's outfit on different riders in the same race. So, I don't see any problems, especially as the basic colours are the same.

I'm sure there was someone in the York City Cycling race wearing Team Radioshack kit.

I once had the task of sorting out a kit redesign - a frustrating job because everyone has an opinion

. I got caught out in another way - let me explain. The design was submitted to the BCF in words: "Blue with white yorkshire rose front and back". The BCF rejected our design as it was "the same as N. Yorks Police CC." In reality they were nothing like. Ours was light blue, there's dark blue. Ours had the usual pentagonal white rose, there's looked like something from a garden centre. The jersey looked totally different in the bunch, deliberately...
Anyways, what I'm saying is that if its still the same system whereby the design is submitted in writing, then the oild one and the new one will sound the same and all will be fine. But - I'm sure the sponsor logo will be an issue, officially at least. And while 95% of organisers/commisairs have better things to worry about, it just takes one jobsworth to ruin your race day. I've seen novice riders get pulled up 3 minutes from the start time for the heinous crime of wearing sleeveless jerseys or not wearing socks...
So, "I'm sure it will be fine" or "I can't see a problem" isn't really enough. Andy, you work for BC and have contributed to this thread. What's the score? Apologies if this is being dealt with out of sight at committee level.
In sport, Rob

"I once had the task of sorting out a kit redesign...."
Ah, you and me both, Rob. The new kit will need submitting to BC - they need pics, not just descriptions. Am assuming Andy's dealt with this.
4th cat riders can wear what they like, but 3rd cats and above should wear "registered club clothing". The rules actually require long sleeve jerseys (I've never ever seen that enforced) and also bans riders who are "untidy or dirty"...

Without refering to the handbook and not knowing every technical regulation of the top of my head. I would agree with Rob, you may or may not 'get away with it' depending on the officials at the event. The only way to guarantee in a BC event is the have the new design top.
