"So if I did come how much money should I bring for food as I suspect I'd have to stuff my face to have enough energy to complete it."

I'm the hardest person possible to cater for (vegeterian who doesn't like vegetables) but I reckon if I did it I'd bring about 10 bananas, lots of psp energy drink, Kendal Mint cake and have a couple of pasta meals and plenty of energy bars.

Also I'd make sure I had £20 to £30 with me just in case.

Rob, I'm tempted too. What would you advise as a fitness test to see if capable? (eg. "2 weeks before, see if you can ride 150 miles in a day" or whatever?)

Michael

Helen - you could borrow my lumicycle if you want. You'd get about 4 hours on full wack, which should be enough if used carefully and with another light for dawn/dusk.

They are bright enough for unlit roads (12W)

Premature I know but I'm sure everyone from Clifton wishes you all the best for Uni in Manchester Will and hope you find time to keep up the cycling! (I've just been talking to your tutor and hearing all about you receiving an award from the lady mayoress this week!)

I'll have plenty of time to cycle, when I find a job that might be only 1 day a week and evenings, uni courses dont take your whole life up you know!

It'll be at least 7-8 miles a day anyway as its 3-4mile ride there and the same back, small compared to the 20mile it was to york college but I'm sure through manchester it will take twice as long

Thanks :), it was the mayor who we shook hands with, I just said thanks I could not hear what he was saying, so thanks and smiled I did, then some guy gave us the certificate and 10 quid borders gift voucher, the principle said abit about each person who got an award, my award was for coming along the furthest compared to anyone else in the class, in the first yea I was struggling abit and getting mostly passes, this year I came along alot and was doing higher standards of work and upped my grade to PPM. Was surprised I got an award tbh!

I'll actually miss going to york college, those early morning 10 mile rides through the country now been replaced with early morning rush hour traffic in manchester city center, it'll feel like paradise when I cycle from home to york for a club run again after a couple months of that :P

Still havent got a route but I am still intending to ride from selby to manchester on quiet roads.

I think Paul is organising the family mountain bike day for the 31st at Dolby Forest, so if we could crack on a bit could we be back for this.

Having done a few night rides, I always find I'm about 2 miles slower per hour without really noticing. Think Stacey will be interested.

That's an unfortunate clash which I didn't see. 30/31 is the only weekend I can do this Lakes ride though.

Why is it at night it seems you are going faster than you are? Couple month back on way home it was getting real dark and I was doign maybe 18-22mph but due to my speedo and the light messing with it the speedo was jumping up to 25-26mph and it felt and seemed like I was doing those speeds when in the day its easy to tell you are not :?

Will - 'cos you can't see as far ahead, so stuff jumps up at you more, just like it does when you are travelling faster.

I like cycling at night. Can be very trance like.
