Ride it. You'll be surprised. Also there's no better way or training for racing than by racing so go for it.

Will, I'm with Arthur - just have a go! some people will be faster than you and some will be slower - you're racing against the clock so it doesn't really matter what anyone else is doing.

2 things to remember: don't take risks - it's a technical course with some steep descents, have a good look at the map first. Secondly - it's got to be a solo effort, you're not allowed to ride in anyones slipstream if you catch someone just overtake them and keep going.

What happens if you are coming up towards someone and there is a car coming the other way, its obviously not possible to overtake at that time so do you just break and keep a fair distance untill the car has gone past?

I'll see how I am when I get there, I dont want to stress my legs too much they still feel abit heavy/stiff.

You do have to use a bit of common sense! Don't take risks - you are not going to be disqualified for for waiting a second or two until it is safe to overtake, likewise don't overtake if there is a car coming up behind you. The rule is designed to stop you taking unfair advantage by deliberately riding in another riders slipstream (or any vehicles slipstream).

Don't worry about anything Will! Just over a year ago I'd never done a time trial before and I had all the same concerns as you about what to do and worried about how fast I would do it etc. After I'd done my first one though I thought "what was I worrying about?!". All will be fine, you'll really enjoy it and I'm sure you'll want to come back for more!
