I rode round 2 of the NPS Xc on Saturday, up at Drumlanrig Castle in Scotland. Not so good this time as a bad line choice towards the end of lap saw me hit a tree stump and burp a load of air out of my front tyre. Although it resealed (tubeless), I did not carry any CO2 canisters etc, so by the time I had got around to the pits area I was in last place by a long way. Eventually got sorted and realed a few back markers in to finish 25th of around 35 starters and 30 finishers.
Great course, very technical and a great training and a good day out. Just a shame I could not repeat my previous ride on that course

Jon G wasn't the only Clifton Rider to ride the Great Selby Bike Ride. Jon was obviously the guy in the Clifton Jersey I saw but didn't know. The other Cliftonites were incognito. Of the lead group of seven which broke away from the rest of the field, three were Cliftonites, and when it came down to the sprint finish (not a race?), Clifton occupied two of the top three places. Seems you can't even do a charity ride these days without the ubiquitous Clifton riding from the front

As Broomwagon says the Selby Bike Ride is not a race but inevitbly there are some that treat it it like one. Not me though. It just is good to beat the time I did last year as I know the course well and it is pan flat.
Unfortunately today unable to make the Sat club run so enjoying a rare day off not having to work this morming. However got a big day tomorrow with the Etape du Dales. there are 3 Clifton riders in it according to the entry list, Myself, Dave I'anson and Martin Land. Thankfully the forcast is cooler than last w/e and dry most importantly. Those descents on wets road are treacherous.
