The ride will go from Nestle this week, unfortunately I can't make it 'cos my bike is in serious need of attention...

Hope it went well - I sneaked out for a quick 40-mile ride before getting the kids from school. Went over to the Wolds - and although I was worried about ice (again) after the heavy frost, it was snow that I found - loads of it. I headed along the road from Pocklington which runs up through Great Givendale to hit the Stamford Bridge road just above Worsendale (hillclimb). A farmer must have snowploughed it; it was clear up the centre with a good foot or more of snow piled up on either side. Fine to ride, except for passing cars.

From there it was back down Garrowby and sharp left at the bottom to head through Bishop Wilton and Yapham on the way home. And a strange thing: the short road from the bottom of Garrowby to Bishop W has a (permanent) Ice hazard sign (red triangle with two icicle things), which always amuses me in summer (is there a leaky ice factory up the hill?) Today of course the sign might have made sense - except sad to report, unlike most of the other roads with their gutters full of icy puddles, there was no ice to be seen.

Only three of us out last night myself, Shaun, and Rich which was his first time, roads were OK even though the temp was 0 degrees, quite a brisk ride.

Stockton Lane next week.
