Saturday Rides

Post by Kevin »

I have just joined the club and am interested in the Saturday morning training rides. What time do you meet and where? Also, how many go out and where to? Are the rides for about two and a half hrs at a brisk pace (18 mph average?)

Cheers, Kevin M

Hi.

The rides are at 10AM, Saturday Mornings at the Exhibition Square just near the Theater Royal.

I think there is around 3 groups.

The first group is lead by a rider called Kevin, this is the person you want to look for I believe when you get there, from my knowledge anyone new to the club rides goes on his run first.

The short one you described would be a training ride, I don't know who does them.

Kevins rides are about 50 - 60 miles steady.

Howards is slightly harder pace, the averages depend on the wind and the route though as sometimes it can be a hilly route, they are usually around 70 miles too, in the summer you can get over 100 miles though.

Hi Kevin

Saturday rides all leave from Exhibition Square (in front of the art gallery). Usual start is 10am but note this week is 10:30 to give people who went to the club presentation dinner a chance to sleep off the hangover. As Will says there are two "social" rides - one faster and longer than the other - and Kevin Scully will have a chat with you and work out which is most appropriate if you turn up and ask to be pointed at him. If you're a more experienced rider and you're after a faster, non-stop ride, then ask at the square who's doing what - at this time of year it depends who's out and what stage of their training they're at. There's usually a brisk, rather longer ride which goes at the same time but which isn't a Clifton ride - might be just what you're after but we don't have any say in what/where/how fast!

Enjoy!
