I got an SCR 2.0 online for my son for £375.......Arthur M wrote:If you do want a Giant bike then I can recommend them. Mine was £525 and had similar spec to the one on the link, though has Shimano Tiagra rather than Campagnolo, and there is a triple chainset and 9-speed block. Also, it only came with normal pedals at first, so if you wanted new ones you would have to buy them on top of this, or else keep the ones you have.
As far as I know, you can get them from Fulford Cycles or Bob Trotter in York, or the shop in Tadcaster.
Brand new? Where abouts?Dr Dave wrote:I got an SCR 2.0 online for my son for £375.......Arthur M wrote:If you do want a Giant bike then I can recommend them. There's a For Sale / Wanted section on here, or Cycle Heaven are usually okay about putting postcards up on their noticeboard (or put it up on the Clifton board) or does the college have a noticeboard, or there's the classifieds in The Press. Or, if you're buying your new bike from a local shop, why not ask if they'll either give you part exchange or sell it for you? Or the Veloriders forum has a for sale / wanted section, as does the BikeRadar forum, or etc etc....

I know you are frustrated with a pretty basic bike. We have all been there, believe me.
At that price range it is a very competitive market and you can find some good deals.
BUT
My advice, for what it is worth, is tough it out with your current bike and save up more money towards the new one.
Next spring will see a lot of good deals around. Some people will be selling off one year old bikes with top notch equipment when they upgrade for the new season. Shops offload their 2008 models.
If you are thinking what a nice bkie you would get for £600, think how much better it would be if you ahd £800 to spend in the sales.
You need to keep your current bike for winter duties.
There, I think that makes 25 replies, so that must be the 25th different piece of advice.
See you on Sunday.

Thanks.
I'm happy sticking with the bike really its just when back ache sets in it annoys me, even though the bike is set up best it can be I still get it, but thats after 20 miles today so I hope it was because I had a bag on me back yesterday and today from college.
I'm considering selling my PC, I'd get about £500 from that maybe more but I like playing the odd game still, if I sold it though I'd have £1000+ for a bike

I was thinking of your predicament after seeing you today Will. Take onboard all the advice you've had on here (particularly the "get your bike to fit you" bit) but the main thing is don't rush into buying or selling!
I'm going to pop to Halfords tomorrow in my Clifton gear and I'll have a word (I won't mention you personally or even Selby). How much was your bike you bought from them?

It was £255 reduced from £350 at managers descresion or something as it was last one they had in and they wanted to get rid. If I'm going to be using this bike regular for a long time from now I need the breaks sorting but I dont want to go into halfords again and argue with them because I feel nothing will get done as the manager aint going to listin to me.MichaelCarter wrote:I was thinking of your predicament after seeing you today Will.
