You can still enter on-line for the Richmond Cyclo Sportives, 50, 80 and 100 mls. These rides will take you through spectacular countryside, and can include the length of Swaledale, recently declared by Rob Osman as one of his favourite routes.

A few Cliftonites have already entered, and will once again taste what are probably the finest anuwhere chocolate brownies and flapjacks as their just reward at the finish of this brilliant event.
We should combine transport: I can offer a lift for 1 bike (and rider), alternatively would be happy to be someone's passenger. I was most impressed last year with Steve's faultless navigation (with a little help from a mysterious woman called Sat Nav).
Richmond Sportive rides on Saturday

I'm making my own way there, intending to set off earlyish (8-8:15?) to give me plenty of time to get round. Never having done anything like this before I have no idea how long it will take (or how fast I might reasonably expect to get round to put it in a more positive way!)
I imagine the trick for Newbies is to start off with easy spinning then wind things up a bit in the 2nd half if the legs are there?

That's the same time I plan to head off - the slower ones are recommended to go off early and then the quick lads set off later and fly past you at some point.Dr Dave wrote:I'm making my own way there, intending to set off earlyish (8-8:15?) to give me plenty of time to get round. It looks tough toward the end!
You guys will be fine. If I can complete the Etape du Dales you'll have no problems. The one concern I have however is looking at the route on their website I think you go up Fleet Moss from Hawes which will be a killer towards the end. It just looked steeper going down on Sunday. I can't comment on some of the other climbs such as Park rash though having never done them.
Good Luck Guys on Saturday
