Our "Come and Try It" TT on 14 June - help needed

Post by NickScull »

I know a number of you rode this event last year (in that dreadful rain), so you have benefitted from it yourselves. And nearly every new member says that on their application form that they are willing to help at events, so here is another great chance for everyone to put something back into the club.

I need people for the following jobs please.

Signing on (x2 - lots of novices needing to be talked through it).
Timekeeper's assistant (to call numbers of the finishers)
Course prep and pushing off (x2)
Marshal at Holtby
Marshal at Stockton
Results runner (could be one of the signing on team doubling up)
Results board (ditto)
Assistants to wander about in club colours at the HQ and help newcomers with general questions about the event and the club (x2)
Help with refreshments

Please post a reply or email me at nick.scull@btopenworld.com, and save me having to chase round for help.

Thanks

Nick

55 views and not a single reply. These events don't run themselves, guys!

Seriously - no helpers means no event. I know it might seem a while away yet, but 55 views and not a single reply ...

I am thinking I would not mind doing something if possible, if I cant get a lift I sure can cycle there. Dont know what I could do though, maybe marshal as I would like to do something at an event, so could possible marshal if I'm not on a saturday social ride, I mean I dont know if you require to know hwo to be a marshal or someone can tell a new person?

Dont know if thats the kind of reply you wanted but I would not mind doing a job if possible.

I can't help that weekend as I have a date with destiny the following day in the Italian Dolomites.

If someone else will ride it, I'll gladly do the TT.

I'm happy to help Nick, it's in the middle of my exams so should give me a relaxing day off to clear my head!

I should be road racing the next day so count me in. I marshalled at the one last year so would like to try something different this time, pushing off/time keeping or something?

I usually cycle out to events I marshall: makes me feel I've got some exercise :) Don't worry about lack of experience, it's very easy and Nick will explain what he wants you to do.

When you cycle out do you take it steady? See its about 15 miles or something to that even on 14th june the come and try it so I will probs be about an hour early or something :p and if its windy I will end up pushing harder, I think I will want to take part in this event now.

Hi everyone

Have you had chance to check diaries as this is another call for helpers to run this event.
It will not take very long and there will still be time to fit a ride in afterwards.

Will

I meant that if people wanted they could still fit in a ride that day.
There is nothing officially planned.

Well if on that weekend the sunday ride after if there is one is going to be another one too hard for me then I would not mind fitting in a ride after, but if I would be able to do the sunday ride on that weekend then the 15 or so miles ride home should be fine for me.
