Tour de Yorkshire Weekend

Post by Jon G »

I know it's still a couple of weekends away but I thought I might try to gauge everybody's thoughts or any plans people have for a ride that weekend to see the race. Personally i will be going to see it on the Friday and Saturday as it passes by close to where i live so probably wasn't thinking of an organised ride on those 2 days others may think differently. Also those first 2 stages aren't the hilliest ( for the pros that is  ) I was thinking about the Sunday stage. I know the A ride regulars are doing the FW the week after so not sure what their plans are the weekend before, whether your looking for an 'easier' ride or a final training ride :?: . I was thinking of riding to some where like Sutton bank to see the race. The timings would allow a ride out in the morning avoiding the race route and also the sportive going on and then once the race goes through you could have a cafe stop at say Thirsk or Helmsley. Really just wondering about peoples thoughts :D

Morning Jon

Sounds like a plan, I am not sure about the other Chaps but i could move things around to Sunday, have a quick 30'ish miler on Sat and an easy 60 miler (+/-) on Sunday to Sutton Bank and as a way to finish off the training and a mid week 20 miler too.

So that would make your suggestion spot on. An example out towards Sutton bank via Shipton-Newton-Linton-Easingwold-Coxwold-Kilburn ..... etc.

I hope the weather would be nice, what does everyone else think? additionally, how does Stu's pub sound on the Wednesday the 27th? great way to reel in April and the FW gang to catch up and logistically plan the trip too ! :D

Just a thought.

The 27th - being the last Wednesday of the month - is already pencilled in for the monthly social meet so should be fine....

For viewing the Tour de Yorkshire Sunday's stage looks to be more appealing than Saturday's so I'd be up for a ride out to Hutton-le-Hole or Sutton Bank :D
Keep pedalling!

Really Jon some of the Inters are doing the Fred Whitton they kept that quiet!

Don't think anything is organized by the Sunday Club Run as the TdY has come on a weekend when we re doing are various good works in other places. So I think feel free to get organized.

Hope you had a good ride seeing the race. Decided not to go in end as started to feel like s**t on Friday night. Going out to see the tour on Friday in wet cold weather didn't help and had to really wrap up on Saturday to go see it. :( . Have spent the day watching it on TV in the warm. :) . Really good to see them ride roads we have all been on, and some of those steep climbs. Good to see some elite riders struggling :D
Hope to be out next weekend and in the absence of some of the regulars with the Fred whitton will suggest a route unless anyone beats me to it. Good luck to those in e FW and see you all the week after next. :D
