Bernard set this one up as a club ride from Exhibition Sq.
Last year Rob guided us all safely round but is unable to do it this time.
I have done it a few times now summer / winter so I have put my hand up to guide a group round
Start 7.30 Two cafe stops in Leyburn so your going to need a bit of extra cash and extra food in your pockets. Food is what you need gels are not going to be much use to you.
Lights just in cast but we should be back for about 6-7pm 143 miles round trip. Not all on the bike two cafe stops remember.
The Tan Hill ride is a bit of a tradition most folk who have been in the club a while have a Tan Hill story so if you haven't got one maybe this is the year for you. Don't expect the pace to be fast we shall keep it comfortable on the flat so the hills cause less of a problem.
The door is wide open for anyone else who wants to ride this at a quicker pace or wants to attack the hills. Form your own group or tackle it solo.
Any questions post hear or PM me. I am away for a few days so don't expect a reply before Wednesday.
Its a tough but an enjoyable ride and a real achievement to complete it.

Re: Tan Hill Challenge Ride August 30th
Just to second Steen's comments. Assuming dry weather this is always a good day out. Generally we ride as a group out as far as Leyburn/Hawes after which the climbs tend to split things into a few smaller groups for the ride back. Not sure I'd completely eschew the gels - always good to have a bail - out shot of carbs for that last 10 miles just in case

Keep pedalling!
Re: Tan Hill Challenge Ride August 30th
Lovely ride indeed, kept group dynamics till Leyburn last year then missed the lot by 5-10 minutes at Leyburn for the second stop( with almost all the food options on the menu being devastated by the group of cyclists who have just left
).
a 7:30 leave departure .... Sharp !!

Yes John
Through Tollerton it normally takes about an hour to get to Helperby. Plan to stop at the Post Horn in Leyburn for fuel if you can not ride slow enough for us to catch you.
