The High Road - Challenge Weekend - 10th/11th Oct

Post by Rob »

We postponed this back in July as those most likely to be interested were otherwise engaged.

So, this is a 2-day challenge. Both over 100miles. Ride Great Dunn Fell (highest road in England) on Saturday. Ride St John's Chapel (highest through-road in England) on the Sunday.

Come and try something a little different!!

Let me know if you're coming (in the next couple of weeks) as I'll need to book the Youth Hostel. Post here or PM me.

Had a couple of inquiries, so just to add a little more detail.

Leave at 0900 on Friday. Pack your stuff in a saddlebag - you won't need much. (Change of clothes for evening, toothbrush, fresh base layer/shorts for day 2)
Ride to Dufton YH. Not worked out a route yet, but can promise some of the finest roads in the North of England. Should be able to drop off saddlebag at YH for Climb of Great Dunn Fell. Return to YH for shower and Evening Meal.

Visit local hostelry for a few sherbets.

YH Breakfast, then saddle up and ride home through Teesdale, Weardale, Stanhope Common, Barnard Castle etc. Might be gone 6pm by the time we're back in York.

Most of you will have finished racing for the year/life. Great chance to try something a little different....

Should be up for that Rob. Sounds like a couple of big days. So just to clarify Ride out Friday and back Saturday? Hartside Pass and St Johns Chapel on stage 2. I need to mentally prepare!
