Sunday Challenges, June and July

Post by Rob »

Just marking your cards with some up-coming Sunday Challenge Rides.

14th June – 2 weeks’ time. Spurn Head. A long day in the saddle, but pretty flat and some efficient group riding should make this a very accessible challenge. It’s a surprisingly varied and interesting route (lighthouses, wind farms (up close), concrete waffle, a ride across a warehouse roof (I kid you not!), The Deep, Humber Bridge…) Should be a great day out.

28th June. Dent. Could be the hardest ride of the year. The 280km quoted may turn out to be conservative and there’ll be more climbing than you can shake a pump at. More details to follow, but expect an early start and a late finish! Should be a blast though, we can promise you some of the best mountain roads in Europe.

5th July. Further, Higher, Pasta. The Clifton alternative to the Olympic Motto; Citius, Altius, Fortius. A clubrun to the Uno Momento Bistro in Stokesley!

12/13th July. The High Road. YH Weekend (Dufton). Climb Great Dunn Fell on the Saturday, the highest road inn England at 847m. Then on Sunday, St Johns Chapel, the highest through-road at 627m. For this one, I need to you to commit in advance so I can book the YH. So please post here.

That little lot should keep you entertained. There’s 12 points there, and that would gain you a Silver medal for those rides alone!

July 12th is the Sunday so I think you mean 11th/12th. At least, I hope I'm right as I've got the wrong day for my birthday otherwise!
