Phill, Nigell always wary as its very difficult to track down ones legal responsibility's when driving a company car, having come the closest ive ever come to killing a spectator/pedestrian on the TDY driving commissaries although in a sponsor supplied car last weekend I do wonder what a test case would bring up ???? I have been told I was on closed roads with Police escort, but I was doing nearly 60 mph in a 20 mph zone on the wrong side of the road to avoid dropped riders and traffic furniture, any professionals care to comment ???

Mornin' Melly! Many thanks as always for your support of racing - as per earlier post have very much got you earmarked for driving the Vets Nats, and if you're up for the June RR I'll certainly have a job for you then too. I'll copy/paste your query to Rich Houghton and put the response on here.

- If driving within a road closure - the Road Traffic Act is effectively suspended, rendering standard insurance policies 'void',
- If your insurance is void, any claim is against YOU, the driver (nobody else, doing 60mph in a 20mph zone)
- What Court would accept that you killed the spectator, because you had to catch up with a bike race?
- Check with the organisers re any bespoke insurance cover they may or may not have.
Note the above applies to driving within road closure, not driving for a race on open roads (well, apart from the 3rd point above, obvs) where my previous response re "conditional" cover applies, as I understand it.

Many, many thanks to all the drivers and marshals who enabled today's LVRC National Champs road race to go ahead. I got lots of feedback at the end, all of which was unreservedly positive, so thank you all for your part in that.
