Weekend Round Up 18/19 Jan

Post by paulM »

Sunday club ride for me. I suppose I should be thinking of doing an impression of somebody thinking about training by now but quite glad I hadnt decided on this weekend! Our sunday ride luck had certainly run out yesterday. I dont know what happened - the BBC hadnt advertised torrential rain?
I shouldnt have been suprised to see 5 other happy smiling souls in the square beneath an array of protective layers that I'm sure would all prove inadequate within 10 miles of York - Mark D, Rob, Broomy, Steen & Dave C the sorts that dont get put off that easily. Driffield was the destination so out Claxton and Bossall. Rob had to be back early so took a right at Gally Gap closely followed by Broomy. Langton, North Grimston - The rain had stopped by now. Right at West Lutton. Across the Sledmere road which was misty and onto Driffield where the rain started heavily again so we were well soaked by the time we got into the cafe. I'm not that great in the Wolds so thanks to Steen and Dave for navigating in and out of Driffield. Warm cafe and the rain had stopped by the time we got out and a blissfully uneventful and dry ride back via Skerne, Huggate, Millington and Stammy Bridge. Just over 80 miles for me. Thanks for the company guys as not a day you would choose to go it alone and nobody through the teddy out.

Set off 10:30 ish on Saturday in light rain and did a 40 mile route via Flaxton, Stittenham, Bulmer, Coneysthorpe, Amotherby, Great Barugh, Barton le Street, Hovingham, Terrington, Sheriff Hutton.

Sunday went with club run as Paul detailed above. Struggled a bit on some of the climbs, thanks Paul, but enjoyed the ride, especially after Driffield when the rain stopped, dry gloves, and even the sun came out for a while. Thanks guys.

Cheers

Dave
