Weekend Round Up 28/29 Dec

As advertised Sunday ride for me. About 10 in the square but only 4 going round Cockayne the rest doing a non-stopper. Probably maybe the best day of the week the only downside being that it was a bit frosty and there were icy roads where the sun didnt shine. Myself Andy G, Steen & MarkD did the full ride - straight out via Castle Howard & Slingsby to Welburn. I said it was icy - on the approach to the Kirkdale ford, the beck was over the road and the approach was a sheet of ice - we walked over the bridge! Is there ever a bad day to go round Cockayne? Clear views & quiet roads greeted us yesterday even if it was bracing in a stiff south westerley. Cafe in Helmsley was busy but we were in no rush. Back via Ampleforth where we had an amicable split leaving just myself and Andy to tackle the climb to Yearsley returning via Farlington. A good ride about 75 miles and no horizontal hail this week!

Thanks to all for a great first ride since becoming a dad. Will be out not this Sunday but definitely the next! Cannot wait!
