8.45am Saturday social ride - 27th April.

Post by Karl M »

This Saturday’s route is a classic by Reuben: York- Sand Hutton- Leavening- Malton- Coneysthorpe- Strensall- York.
So it has a nice warm up, then hills, rolling terrain and then flatlands for a warm down (more info here).
Certainly makes a change from York-Thixendale-Thix-Thix-Thix-Thix-Thix-York. :D

It’s 48 miles and we'll back in York by 12 noon. And if we’re lucky enough to have more than 14 at the Square, for safety we’ll split into two groups… 14 in one and 1 in the other.

For any newcomers, we cycle together on the flats and regroup at the top of the hills to make this a ‘no-drop’ social ride.
Come and join us- we all had to begin somewhere.

Hi Karl

Hope your well, its been while. i must give you your map back. saying so i have used it so many times and its gotten me home safe and sound every time. always reminding me of that day.

i'd love to join in as i am taking things slow and steady but i am planning to go on the club run on sunday (MTB) so might skip the morning ride though i am tempted.

we'll see

Hi Allan.
Here’s how the map was included:
1. Go to http://ridewithgps.com
2. Create a free account
3. Create a route map
4. Click “share” button
5. Click “map image” to get the web address of the map image
6. When you’re writing a post here, include that web address with Image either side of it so it looks like this:

Bet you wished you hadn’t asked now!

Hi Joe. I’m glad the map is useful. Do go easy on your knee for the time being, to have a good summer.

Thanks for organising this. First time out for me on a Saturday am
I was pushed at times - which is good training.
Having cycled all winter, dont think I have been in a hail storm before either
Hope we all got back ok

Good ride out.despite the hailstone battering.sorry I didn't continue with the ride.but an early bath and a cuppa tea seemed like a nice idea. :)

Really enjoyed the ride. Good route - thanks Karl

Only downside was when I was cleaning my bike and discovered the bond between my FSA carbon cranks and the aluminium pedal threads had broken free. Must've been trying to get up Bulmer bank as fast as possible!

I trust that you all had a good ride Saturday, I came over with a stomach bug on Friday that put me out of action. Should have come in hindsight, more chance of getting to see a GP in the square on a Saturday morning than at my local clinic :D
Pock Pedal next week............
