Training ride, Saturday 16th

Post by PhilBixby »

Well well well... ...snow forecast for later today, but balmy temperatures and hints of sunshine for Saturday; believe what you will, but it looks promising enough to plan an eastwards jaunt to Malton and Terrington along the "traditional" route. At least two groups and let's aim to keep 'em together. As always, if we wake to snow-covered roads, check back on here late Friday / Saturday first thing.

Not here unfortunately. This is my favourite of the routes too.

I'm off to the Lakes and taking my bike. Going to see what all the fuss is about the climbs over there.

The promise of blue skies and temperatures in excess of five degrees? Hardly any wind? Waddya want folks - I was expecting huge numbers out today but there were just a dozen parked up in the square as the bells tolled, so we rolled eastwards in one group, being joined by a couple of others out on the road. This came apart a bit when things got lumpy around Gally Gap, and spread out further on the neverending drag out of Malton, such that there were seven of us still together as we peeled into the lap of the flat ten circuit. A lovely day for a ride, but the cold air still cuts through you when your cardiovascular system's getting a hammering. Good work by everyone, with 234W and bang on 20mph being the numbers for the day - not bad at all.

My puncture before Malton put a quick end to my suffering for the day! In all honesty, I wasn't feeling great so a little meander back home was fine by me.

Saw the K ride and AndyM just outside of Buttercrambe

42 miles for me, but back out tomorrow so not all lost.

1st training ride out for me due to work commitments.only a partial ride from malton thru to sherriff.altho i hate every mile of it. i was expecting to severly get spat out of the back.but the good work by the group made it good.i even had a "bit" of time at the front. hope work quietens down soon so i can get back out regular again. :)

Hard ride today for me, funny how it was sunny and clear in York, but there was freezing fog and snow in the hills.

Is it me or was it a bit messy on the way out? The lines didn't seem too tidy and it was a bit stop start? No matter though, I still found it hard and just managed to hang on til just after sherif Hutton, where I called an early bath. A good mornings training (and certainly the right decision for me over racing at Croft - definitely need a few more miles in the legs first)
Thanks all.
