Might I suggest that as you seem to have taken the lead in this alternative Clifton CC Ryedale rumble, that you specify the start time and start a new thread labelled Saturday 01 September Group A club ride or similar so that everyone looking for a ride this weekend can see what is planned. 9am start seems sensible given the mileage and slightly lumpy terrain.
Cheers

OK guys. I'm going to break silence on this as I've just been contacted directly by Karl and sent him a response only half informed of the facts, so apologies Karl.
I see the event that was in the Challenge Series for Sunday has now been cancelled so you're looking to ride it anyway and want to know if it counts?
I've emailed Bernard who looks after the Challenge Series so he may jump in at some point in which case Bernard's Ruling Overrides Mine.
However, with the short notice my view is go ahead and organise your own ride. The 'Rumble 1' was to be 178km and Dave's proposed route is 181km so I'd say it can qualify for the 2 points. It looks tough enough.
To keep it simple I'd suggest just organise the 1 route, ride it as a Group and look after eachother, but over to you really. The weather looks promising so enjoy it and be safe. I'll drop Ginie a note asking her to pop a note in the weekly update.

Update;
Bernard has been in touch and we're in agreement. Apparently this has been discussed at the Square also.
Ginie will put an update out pointing people at this thread for details.
Please could someone take the lead to put a definite start time, location and route here ASAP so it's clear. Also details of proposed food stops might be useful too as there won't be the feed stations that the RR would have had.

OK, thanks Paul for clarifying the points.
As it is a longer route than normal 9am start time,

Cafe stop Castleton
See you at the square 9am Saturday.

After discussion with Bernard there will be a route2 option which follows the same route as route1 up to the top of Blakey bank but turns right back down to Hutton le Hole to rejoin the route back to York. http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=454882

May be a bail-out option for those long route aspirants who find that the force isn't with them by the time they get that far!dave c wrote:After discussion with Bernard there will be a route2 option which follows the same route as route1 up to the top of Blakey bank but turns right back down to Hutton le Hole to rejoin the route back to York. http://bikeroutetoaster.com/Course.aspx?course=454882
