Training Ride, Saturday 5th

Post by PhilBixby »

Does someone fancy fronting up this Saturday's training ride and choosing a route, to avoid mass indecision in the square? Along with a few other members of the Clifton Elderly Gentlefolk's race squad I'll be putting my feet up in preparation for Sunday's Minty's Memorial RR. The good news is that the Met office forecast is currently for half decent weather on both days, so we could all be in luck...

Should be out this week. Won't be able to lead due to terrible sense of direction but happy to ride any route.

I'm back in Sheffield now, so won't be around weekend. Have a good ride all, and good luck Phil and anyone else racing this weekend!

I'll be out.

I'd recommend the route towards Leeds via Tadcaster then to Sherburn and Bishops wood and a flat ride north back to York. Probably makes a change from the usual.

I'm cool with that.. Haven't done that route many times so you'll have to lead the way.

I'll head out with you guys this saturday as the chaingangs have been great this year so far, if you're doing the classic Malton loop? Much nicer than heading west, plus there will be a tailwind back this weekend.

I'm racing sunday, but going hard for a couple of hours the day before works better for me than having an easy day. If you do Tad, Sherburn again I'll come out for the lumpy middle bit. This ride was done last week though, and you might want to do a different one.

I'll come to the square but if you go north I might just head on the circuit past taddy as I need to be back for 12 and don't fancy doing 80 miles.

Great ride yesterday, was good to get on a training ride because my I've not got much form at the moment, the flat bit at the end where we was pushing some speed round the 10 course was quite hard with the crosswinds, I've missed such a route not getting interrupted by traffic lights. I almost suffocated myself again in sheriff hutton by sprinting up that hill but good training I guess.

Got back to York with 60 miles at 21.2mph average and another 16 miles home bringing it up to 76 miles and back home for 12:30pm.

Resting today, ridden every day this week and did a hard 35 miles on Friday which in turn tired my legs out for Saturday, got a 10 mile time trial in Cheshire tomorrow, did a 23:55 on Wed but hoping to bring that down considerably when I get some form with a top end target of a 21:30 on it.
